UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN
Some months ago, I saw "Under The Tuscan Sun" on television. This 2003 romantic-comedy starred Diane Lane as Frances - a recently divorced woman who gets offered to go on a vacation to Italy by a lesbian friend. The only drawback is that although Frances is "straight", the vacation is a grey tour. During the tour she spots a villa and by a series of circumstances becomes it's new owner.
Soon after her arrival in Tuscany, Frances meets and befriends a glamorous and eccentric Englishwoman, Katherine. Katherine (potrayed by Lindsay Duncan) offers Frances various bits of advice. She hires a local builder to renovate the villa with his Polish workers.
However, life still seems to be in a rut, so she decides to go away for a while and visit Rome. During her time there, she is charmed by a seemingly genuine Italian, Marcello. They have a brief affair, but due to a series of awkward circumstances their relationship becomes strained. Because she misses Marcello so much she dons a pure white dress at travels to his home town. Although she finds Marcello, she soon discovers that he has been with someone else. Returning to the villa, Frances eventually finds happiness with those around her.
The white dress pictured here is by coldLogic and for me personally is inspired by Frances' white dress in the movie. In actual fact the dress isn't totally white, but has a pale flower pattern on a cream material. It is the closest I could find in a mesh style. Also, it is in halter-neck style whereas in the movie is is a full blouse-style top.
